One of Ghana’s finest hilife musicians, Dada Hafco, has spilled out an irrational mindset some Ghanaians have with regards to the hilife genre and musicians.
Dada Hafco revealed that some Ghanaians calls him a villager and even think he can’t speak English because he’s into hilife.
On the after drive on spice 91.9fm, the host Nana Ama Shancy questioned the “girlfriend” crooner that, are there hilife musicians appreciated by Ghanaians and he answered negatively.
“I don’t think they do. They don’t. They even see us as villagers. Yes, there are several times people call me a villager….They even come at me on social media.
“Some Ghanaians have some ill mindset when it comes to the hilife genre and it’s funny. They’ve always seen hilife artistes as villagers even the veterans. But that’s our original sound and the earlier we embrace it, the better for us”, he answered
Dada Hafco also made mention that people gets surprised when they hear him speak English because they believe that hilife musicians can’t speak English. The “puu puu” singer, raised concerns on the stigma they face as hilife acts and its over worrying.
According to him, Ghanaians need to be highly educated on all these things because he believes we are way behind and that’s a bad news for us.
Even though some Ghanaians have the wrong perception about hilife musicians, Dada Hafco still believes entertainment industry need a better position to be taken serious by the government.
He still stand on his words that the entertainment industry will yield a lot if resources are invested in it rather than football. Yet he still thinks the entertainment industry hasn’t pushed enough to be taken serious by the government.
