Ghanaian reggae musician has divulged that he once rejected huge amounts of money from a political party to compose a song for them.
In an interview with Michael Boahene on TAADI FM, the “Maata Family” crooner claimed he has never been a fan of any political party and he doesn’t plan to be a fan of any.
To Shasha Marley, he has released songs like “SHAME POLITICIANS” and “BUUM BUUM-WAA WAA” to chastise the bad deeds of politicians and spoken for the downtrodden so there’s no way he’ll do a song for a particular party.
In light of that stance, he revealed that a political party in Ghana once offered him $50,000 to compose a song for them but he declined because it goes against his principles. The political party which made the offer was kept under wraps.
“A political party once offered me $50,000 to compose a song for them but I declined the offer… I’ve done songs that speaks against these partisan politics and doing a song for any political party will denigrate what I stand for,” says Shasha Marley.
