Artiste manager for Kwabena Kwabena popularly known as Ashes, has stated categorically that the Ghana music industry is depressed and so most artistes in Ghana are also depressed.
Ashes who has worked with quite a number of artistes has unfolded how most artistes one way or the other get depressed due to our malnourished industry which is quite unfavorable.
“Look, the industry itself is depressed and so most artistes to are depressed. Unstable industry, lack of investors and the struggles faced by our artistes to get to the top is appalling. Why won’t they be depressed?
“These days if you want top producers you’ll pay not less than Ghc 5,000. You’ll spend not less than Ghc30,000 for music videos. You have to budget like 40,000 at least to promote the song for it to be a hit. Most artistes are doing this single handedly and you think it’s not normal for them to be depressed,” he questioned.
Per Ashes statements, artistes struggle their way out to be unveiled by a hit song and so people should avoid calling them expensive when they charge for shows.
“An artiste will go through a lot to be on top and when they charge for shows people sit at the comfort of their homes and troll them without knowing the investment they’ve made in themselves,” he added
Ashes suggests that if the music industry is made attractive by the government purposely by investing in it and building effective structures, the mental stress of most musicians will surely be cut down.
