Jurgen Klopp has reportedly identified Alexis MacAllister as his preferred choice to strengthen Liverpool’s midfield for the upcoming season. According to Tom Blow of the Mirror, Liverpool is prepared to spend £70 million to secure the services of the Argentine midfielder and World Cup winner.
MacAllister caught the attention during Brighton & Hove Albion’s impressive performance against Arsenal, which elevated them to 6th place. With several midfielders set to depart Liverpool in the summer, Klopp sees MacAllister as the missing piece in his squad.
The potential departures of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita further underline Liverpool’s need for midfield reinforcements. Additionally, Liverpool’s final league position is still uncertain, as they aim to surpass Manchester United and secure a top-four finish.
In addition to MacAllister, Liverpool is also monitoring Mason Mount and Manuel Ugarte as potential transfer targets. Klopp is keen to strengthen his squad with quality signings after a challenging season.
