The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a significant increase in prize money for the upcoming CAF Women’s Champions League Morocco 2024. Each of the eight participating African women’s football clubs will receive a guaranteed USD 150,000 in prize money, highlighting CAF’s commitment to promoting and developing women’s football on the continent.
Since its inception in 2021 under the leadership of President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, the CAF Women’s Champions League has steadily grown in prominence. This year’s total prize fund has seen a substantial 52% increase, rising to USD 2,350,000, reflecting CAF’s efforts to elevate the tournament’s status and make it more attractive and competitive globally.
The winning team will take home an impressive USD 600,000, while the runner-up will receive USD 400,000. The third and fourth-placed teams will earn USD 350,000 and USD 300,000, respectively. Additionally, teams finishing third and fourth in the group stages will collect USD 200,000 and USD 150,000 each.
CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe reiterated his commitment to the development of women’s football in Africa, emphasizing plans to invest in youth academies for boys and girls across the continent. “Our goal is to make African competitions globally competitive and attractive,” he said, underscoring the broader vision to continuously increase prize money across all CAF tournaments.
