The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has issued a heartfelt apology to Ghanaians following the Black Stars’ unprecedented failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Mr. Asante Twum expressed his deep regret over the team’s poor qualifier performance. “I would like to apologize to Ghanaians for the massive disappointment of not qualifying for the AFCON,” he stated.
Reflecting on the Black Stars’ historical dominance in African football, Asante Twum emphasized the shocking nature of the outcome. “I have followed the Black Stars for two decades and I have not seen anything like this before; that we go into qualifiers, play six games, and not win a single game. I have not seen that before,” he told Asempa FM.
The Black Stars failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco after a shambolic performance in the qualifiers’ which saw the Black Stars losing to sides like Niger, Sudan, and Angola in the qualifiers stage.
After the dramatic lose to Niger there has been a pressure on Coach Otto Addo and the Ghana football Administration to resign from their post for their contribution to Ghana’s failure to qualify for the tournament.
