The Ghana Football Association (GFA), in collaboration with the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), has officially launched a Road Safety Campaign aimed at curbing road accidents and promoting safe practices across the country.
The campaign was unveiled on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the GFA Headquarters in Accra by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku and acting NRSA Director-General, Ing. David Osafo Adonteng.
Delivering the welcome address, GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo (Esq) reiterated the association’s dedication to fostering a culture of road safety. He highlighted the GFA’s commitment to leveraging its extensive influence within football communities to drive home the campaign’s message and reduce road accidents.
President Simeon-Okraku expressed optimism about the partnership, underscoring the collective responsibility of stakeholders to ensure the campaign’s success.
“This partnership is mutually beneficial. It concerns everybody here and beyond, and it’s the reason all of us must pay attention to this campaign and go out as proud ambassadors of this road safety campaign,” he stated.
He further pledged the GFA’s resources, including its football platforms and social media presence, to amplify the road safety message.
The acting NRSA Director-General, Ing. David Osafo Adonteng, commended the GFA for its proactive involvement, stressing the potential of football to inspire change and reach diverse audiences across Ghana.
The Road Safety Campaign seeks to engage football clubs, players, and fans as key ambassadors to champion road safety education and help reduce road traffic fatalities in Ghana.
