Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has expressed optimism about the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) future, declaring that the party will recover from its recent electoral defeat and reclaim power in 2028.
Speaking after the electoral commission’s declaration, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP assured the party faithful that the party’s current challenges are temporary and that efforts are already underway to rebuild and reenergize its base.
“The NPP will bounce back stronger than ever. This is just a phase, and we are taking steps to reconnect with Ghanaians and address the issues that affected our performance,” Chairman Wontumi stated.
He emphasized the need for unity within the party, urging members to stay committed to the NPP’s principles and support efforts to restore the party’s image.
“We must reflect on our shortcomings and come back with policies and strategies that resonate with the people. The NPP is a resilient party, and we will rise again,” he added.
Chairman Wontumi’s remarks come in the wake of the party’s loss in the 2024 general elections, which saw the National Democratic Congress (NDC) emerge victorious. Analysts have attributed the NPP’s defeat to economic challenges and public dissatisfaction with governance.
