Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Director of Communications for the Bawumia Campaign Team, has emphasized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s enduring leadership potential following the 2024 presidential election.
Speaking in an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Face to Face aired on Channel One TV, Aboagye described Bawumia as the most qualified leader to guide the New Patriotic Party (NPP) into the future.
Aboagye expressed confidence that the party will continue to rally behind Dr. Bawumia, even if he decides to contest the presidency again in 2028. He highlighted Bawumia’s creativity, leadership, and innovative approach, calling these qualities essential for Ghana’s progress.
“I think that anytime Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia decides that he’s going to run, I’m very confident that the party will rally behind him. The party is clear in their minds that his level of creativity, leadership qualities, and innovation is something Ghana needs,” he said.
When asked if Bawumia is the best candidate to lead the NPP to victory, Aboagye affirmed, “Without a doubt.” He also noted that Bawumia has shown resilience in the face of past setbacks, stating, “He lost as a running mate in 2008, he lost as a running mate in 2012, and he came back in 2016. He has gone through this before.”
Mahama Declared Winner in 2024 Presidential Election
The Electoral Commission (EC) declared John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) the winner of the December 9 polls. Mahama secured 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the valid votes cast, defeating Dr. Bawumia, who garnered 4,657,304 votes, or 41.61%.
The NDC’s victory extends beyond the presidency, as the party also gained a commanding majority in Parliament, securing over 180 seats. This includes several key constituencies previously considered strongholds of the NPP.
The NDC’s parliamentary success and Mahama’s decisive win underscore a clear mandate as he prepares to assume the presidency once more.
