The song “Honourable Waawe,” which went viral after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 elections, has caused a stir thanks to Ghanaian actor and comedian Kwadwo Nkansah, better known by his stage as LilWin.
LilWin has adamantly asserted that he is the track’s proprietor and that the concept behind it was taken from him.
The multi-talented singer recently vented his fury in an interview, claiming that the song’s musician, De Thompson, had made money off of his intellectual property without giving him full credit.
“I own the Honorable Waawe concept. Before De Thompson really created it, I wrote and composed it in my mind. “That my idea was stolen and used without my permission is disappointing,” he remarked.
When the show host questioned LilWin’s claim’s foundation, the issue grew more intense. The host brought up the fact that the phrase “Honourable Waawe” has only been used in a movie in which LilWin starred. The actor responded by refusing to back down.
It was in that movie that I coined the phrase. Just because someone uses it in a song doesn’t imply they own the idea; it’s my creative property. I provided all of the inspiration, and the musician took it to heart.”
