Former Ghanaian international Ahmed Barusso has opened up about the profound influence of Ghanaian football legend Abedi Pele and Coach Prince on his football career.
In an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah, Barusso attributed his determination, resilience, and hunger for success to their mentorship and guidance.
“Abedi always told me that to be the best, I had to do ten times what the white man does; otherwise, I would never get the chance to play,” Ahmed Barusso revealed.
“Those words have stayed with me, and every time I stepped on the pitch, I gave my everything.”
Barusso also recounted a pivotal moment when Abedi Pele declined a proposal by renowned coach Sellas Tetteh to bring him to Liberty Professionals, a move Abedi believed would not fully develop his talent.
“Abedi once turned down Sellas’ proposal to bring me to Liberty because he felt they wouldn’t be able to develop my football properly. He predicted that I would play in Europe,” Barusso shared.
The midfielder went on to fulfill Abedi Pele’s prediction, enjoying a successful career in Europe where he played for several clubs, including AS Roma and Torino in Italy
