Asante Kotoko has officially announced the acquisition of forward Sampson Eduku on a free transfer, bolstering their attacking prowess. The 29-year-old striker has signed a one-and-a-half-year deal with the Porcupine Warriors.
Eduku’s arrival is a significant boost for Kotoko, who currently sit 6th in the Ghana Premier League with 28 points after 16 matches. Known for his clinical finishing and versatility, Eduku is expected to provide the firepower needed to propel the team up the table and challenge for the title. Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum’s vision to strengthen the attack is clearly reflected in this strategic signing.
Eduku has consistently impressed in recent seasons, establishing himself as one of the top strikers in the Ghana Premier League. His standout performances for Tamale City in the 2022/23 season, where he scored an impressive 14 goals and provided 3 assists in just 27 matches, earned him a move to Iraqi club Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya. He then joined another Iraqi side, Al Hedod Sporting Club, in January 2024, before departing in July 2024. After becoming unattached, Eduku began training with Kotoko in the later part of 2024.
His previous experience with Ghanaian clubs like FC Samartex 1996, Sekondi Hasaacas, Elmina Sharks FC, and Karela United FC, as well as a stint with Guinean club CI Kamsar, further adds to his wealth of experience.
Sampson Eduku could make his debut for Asante Kotoko when they take on Acceler8z FC in the Round of 32 of the FA Cup. The match is scheduled for January 12 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
