The Presidential Candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Nana Akosua Frimponmaa Sarpong Kumankumah has raised concerns about the future of Ghana’s 24-hour economy.
She warned that poor ministerial oversight and a lack of collaboration could lead to its collapse.
In an interview with Citi News, she stressed the importance of creating systems that encourage teamwork and feedback within government ministries. According to her, the absence of such systems makes it difficult to implement innovative solutions.
“When you’re in opposition, it’s easy to point out problems. But when given the power to fix these problems, the lack of proper support systems becomes a challenge,” Nana Frimponmaa explained. She added, “If ministers don’t believe in new ideas, they will be ignored. This can harm the progress we aim to achieve.”
Nana Frimponmaa further warned of the risks of neglecting innovative ideas. She emphasized, “This isn’t just a campaign statement, without the right systems, Ghana’s 24-hour economy could collapse within 24 hours.”
The 24-hour economy, introduced by President John Dramani Mahama, aims to boost productivity and create jobs by encouraging businesses to operate round-the-clock. This initiative seeks to support companies in adopting a three-shift system to enhance competitiveness and economic growth.
