Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, has announced the nomination of Kofi Iddie Adams as the country’s new Minister for Sports and Recreation. This decision is part of the third group of cabinet appointments submitted to Parliament for approval.
Adams, who represents the Buem Constituency in the Oti Region, will be succeeding Mustapha Ussif, the former Minister of Youth and Sports under the previous administration of President Nana Akufo-Addo.
A passionate advocate for boxing, Adams is expected to bring a renewed focus on sports in Ghana. The sports community is eager to see if his leadership will help restore the nation’s sporting achievements to former heights.
At 49, Adams has been an influential figure in the National Democratic Congress (NDC), having served as the party’s Deputy General Secretary and National Organizer.
Several names were mentioned throughout the process including former minster of sports Hon. Nii Lante Vanderpuye but as it stands the official nominee is Kofi Iddie Adams
Before officially assuming office, Adams must undergo a vetting process and secure Parliament’s approval for his appointment as Minister of Sports and Recreation.
