Newly sworn-in Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Ocloo has identified security and sanitation as her top priorities.
During her first meeting with the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council on February 3, she announced the reintroduction of the Regional Sanitation Day. She also introduced an award scheme for the cleanest city to boost sanitation efforts in the capital.
She emphasized the need to support municipal and local district assemblies to become self-sustaining under the government’s “Resetting Agenda.”
“I will work closely with traditional authorities, religious organizations, and other stakeholders to deepen decentralization,” Ocloo stated.
Madam Ocloo added that Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) would be empowered to boost revenue generation. This initiative aims to promote sustainable local development.
Ocloo also reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening zonal and area councils. She assured that technical support would be provided to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) as mandated by the Local Governance Act 936.
