Business mogul and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama has met with 13-year-old Melchizedek Adio Baafawiise, the youngest student ever admitted to KNUST.
The meeting, held in Accra on Monday, February 3, 2025, brought together Melchizedek and his parents for an inspiring conversation about education, ambition, and science.
During the meeting, Ibrahim Mahama praised the young physics prodigy for his remarkable achievements and commitment to learning.
Melchizedek, from Bole in the Savannah Region, made headlines after scoring 5 As and 3 Bs in the WASSCE at just 13 years old.
His exceptional performance earned him admission to KNUST to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics.
As part of efforts to nurture his passion for science and engineering, Ibrahim Mahama offered Melchizedek a unique learning experience aboard his private jet.
The young scholar visited the cockpit while flying back to Kumasi, gaining firsthand exposure to aircraft operations.

The experience aligned perfectly with his deep interest in physics and aerospace engineering.
Initially aspiring to become a pilot, Melchizedek later shifted his focus to physics but remains passionate about aviation.
“This experience strengthens my belief that physics opens doors to aerospace engineering and many other fields,” he said.
Beyond mentorship, Ibrahim Mahama pledged full educational funding for Melchizedek’s studies at KNUST and beyond.
He assured the family that he would cover tuition, accommodation, and academic expenses, eliminating financial barriers.
