Ghana’s Afua Asantewaa embarked on a journey on December 24, 2024, to become the record holder for Guinness World Records’ longest singing marathon.
After an impressive 126 hours and 52 minutes, Afua Asantewaa concluded her singathon journey on December 29, 2023.
Dr. Buckman, the Medical Doctor and Medic Team lead, revealed on JoyPrimeTV on that morning that she was advised to stop singing after a thorough review and evaluation of her health.
Afua Asantewaa and her team paid an amount to expedite the evidence check, which is part of their rules.
On February 23, 2024, Guinness World Records announced that the attempt was unsuccessful, and hoped she’ll make another attempt.
They also revealed that her money was refunded because the evidence check had already begun when she made the payment.
“Unfortunately Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon. We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afua requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts.” — GWR replied one X user when she posted a video of a man saying Afua’s attempt has been disqualified
