Archbishop Dr. Charles Agyinssare addressed the comments he made during the Supernatural Empowerment Summit at the Perez Dome on Thursday. He clarified that his intention was to discuss the divine protection Christians receive from God and the need to activate it against demonic attacks, which is a fundamental aspect of Charismatic Christianity.
During his speech, he shared personal experiences of encountering demonic manifestations during his crusades in various countries. He mentioned incidents such as people attempting to levitate in India and an attack he experienced as a young pastor at a bus stop near Korle Bu.
Regarding Nogokpo, the Archbishop clarified that he did not intend to refer to the town itself but rather an incident that occurred after a crusade in Aflao. He expressed that he had no intention of disparaging the people of Nogokpo or the Volta Region as a whole, emphasizing his positive relationship with the people of the region. He mentioned that his wife is from Keta, an Ewe town, and that two of his sons have Ewe names. His examples were meant to illustrate the principle of divine protection, not to belittle any specific towns or their inhabitants.
He expressed regret for any misrepresentation or misinformation that may have arisen from subsequent commentary and reports. The Archbishop stated that over his 40 years of ministry, he has served as a spiritual gatekeeper, speaking up at critical times in the nation. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving God’s people and the nation as guided by the Holy Spirit.
