Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a positive update on midfielder Thomas Partey, hinting at his return to the squad for their upcoming Premier League clash against Sheffield United on Monday March 4.
“Thomas had a session before the last game, now he’s done two or three consecutive sessions so he should be part of the squad on Monday [to face Sheffield United],” Arteta confirmed.
The Ghanaian international has been side-lined with injury since October 2023. His last appearance for Arsenal was a substitute role in their victory against Manchester City during the same month.
Partey’s absence extended to the recently concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, as he was named in Ghana’s initial provisional squad but ultimately missed out due to his injury concerns.
This season, Partey has only managed to play in five Premier League matches for Arsenal, with injuries significantly impacting his playing time.
The return of Thomas Partey would be a significant boost for Arsenal, offering them much-needed experience and stability in their midfield as they continue their challenge in the Premier League.
