John Dumelo, the Ayawaso West Wuogon member-elect, has announced his father’s passing.
On Saturday, January 4, 2025, Dumelo paid tribute to his father for his life of excellence and the pivotal role he played in influencing his path in a heartfelt Facebook post.
In his last minutes, he thought of his late father, who had been thrilled about his son’s election and had given him advice about his future in politics.
“You had a good life at 75 years old. You contacted me multiple times yesterday, requesting that I visit you. We talked extensively about politics, life, farming, business, and of course, gossip while we sat on the bed. We even discussed my three-day swearing-in, and you particularly instructed me to work hard in government,” he said.
John Dumelo, however, said that he received a troubling phone informing him that his father had stopped responding shortly after he left his home.
His father was taken to the hospital, where he was stabilized, but he died soon after.
I received a call ten minutes after I left your house informing me that you were not answering. He wrote, “I hurried back, we took you to the hospital, and you were gone.
” Dumelo paid his respects by describing his father as his best friend and largest supporter in addition to being a dad. He expressed his profound sadness at the death, especially given how near it was to his swearing-in event.
Thank you for being my father, my best friend, my biggest supporter, and for everything else you have done for me. We shall miss you, so please say hello to Mom on our behalf. Rest in peace, “John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Snr., Engineer,” he wrote.
At the age of 75, the late Engineer John William Kudzo Anato-Dumelo Sr. passed away.
John Dumelo’s mother, his wife, died in 2023 at the age of 71, not long after he was announced as the National Democratic Congress’s uncontested candidate in the parliamentary election for Ayawaso West Wuogon.
Social media has been overrun with condolence messages from supporters and well-wishers since Dumelo’s statement.
