The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), has granted a reprieve from a three-year ban imposed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Ghanaian footballer Solomon Safo Taylo. The decision, dated December 4, 2024, provisionally lifts the ban and reinstates Taylor’s player license, allowing him to resume his professional football career.
The GFA’s Diciplinary committee accused the Ghananian striker of double registration, leading to a protest by the club due to discerpancies in his documentation, leading to the committee declraring him guilty.
The ban, originally enforced by the GFA Disciplinary Committee on April 15, 2024, and upheld by the GFA Appeals Committee on May 29, 2024, was challenged by Safo Taylor. CAS Deputy President Dr. Elisabeth Steiner, in granting the provisional measures sought on November 6, 2024, emphasized that the player’s right to continue his career should be protected until the arbitration concludes.

Taylor’s legal team welcomed the decision as a victory for fairness and justice in sports governance. The GFA is yet to comment on the implications of the ruling.
The final determination of costs and other details will be addressed at the conclusion of the arbitration proceedings. This development brings hope to Safo Taylor and his supporters, who have been advocating for his return to the pitch.
