Carlos Ahenkorah, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has sparked a conversation with his recent remarks on the outcome of the 2024 general elections. According to Ahenkorah, the results reflect a rejection of the NPP rather than an endorsement of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Speaking during an interview on United Television, Ahenkorah acknowledged the challenges faced by the NPP in retaining voter confidence, attributing the party’s loss to dissatisfaction with its governance rather than overwhelming support for its main opposition.
“This election wasn’t a win for the NDC as much as it was a protest vote against the NPP. We must reflect on the reasons behind this and reconnect with the electorate,” he stated.
He further stated that the outcome of the election reflects that the NPP has failed Ghanaians. “The NPP needs to go back to the drawing board and know what went wrong; I believe Ghanaians believe the NPP has failed them.”
He emphasized the need for the NPP to address the grievances of Ghanaians, restore trust, and revitalize the party’s image in preparation for the next election cycle.
