Heart of Lions assistant coach Daniel Nii Adjei has acknowledged the challenge of securing a victory against Hearts of Oak SC in their upcoming Ghana Premier League (GPL) fixture.
The match is scheduled for Friday, January 31 at 19:00 GMT at the University of Ghana Stadium, where both teams will be eager to make a statement.
Fresh off a hard-fought 2-1 win over Aduana Stars, which propelled them to third place in the Ghana Premier League standings, Heart of Lions are eager to continue their strong performance. However, Nii Adjei suggests that even securing a point against Hearts of Oak would be a valuable result.
“Getting a point at Legon [against Hearts of Oak] will be a success for us because we don’t want to lose this game, and I know winning will be difficult,” Nii Adjei said. “Anything can happen, but earning a point from this match would be a plus for us.”
Heart of Lions currently sit third in the league table with 33 points after 18 matches, just one point behind league leaders Asante Kotoko. A win against Hearts of Oak would significantly boost their title aspirations. Hearts of Oak, currently sixth with 30 points, are also aiming for a win to close the four-point gap to the top of the table and keep their own title hopes alive.
Heart of Lions’ away record this season shows two wins, four draws, and two losses in eight matches. They will be looking to build on their recent form and maintain their momentum as they push for the Ghana Premier League title.
