November 11, 2024, marked a momentous occasion as Accra Hearts of Oak commemorated its 113th anniversary. The club, founded on November 11, 1911, at 11 a.m., has long been a pillar in Ghana’s football scene, earning a rich legacy of success, perseverance, and passion.
In a heartfelt statement, the National Chapters Committee (NCC), led by General Secretary Peter Maamah, paid tribute to the club’s founders for their visionary work, which has provided generations of football enthusiasts with unforgettable experiences. The NCC also honored the Council of Patrons, past and present Board of Directors, and the club’s legendary personalities who have significantly contributed to shaping the club’s history.
Special recognition was given to influential figures like Soccer Philosopher Harry Sawyerr, Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, Harry Zakour, and Stephen Akwetey. The NCC also remembered the contributions of football legends, including coaches Ken Harrison, Ofei Ansah, and Cecil Jones Attuquayefio. The efforts of key players like Chris Brandt, Mohammed Polo, and Anas Seidu, along with the Musical Youth and 64 Battalions, were also celebrated.
The club acknowledged the tireless dedication of Togbe Afede XIV, the Board Chairman, whose leadership has driven infrastructural advancements and heightened the club’s reputation both locally and internationally. His work in youth development and ensuring a strong competitive edge for the team was lauded as instrumental.
