Ghanaian actor, Kwadwo Nkansah, known widely as Lilwin, who has predominantly made his name in the movie industry under the umbrella Kumawood has lashed out at Martha Ankomah for allegedly disrespecting Kumawood movie makers.
According to Lilwin, Martha Ankomah was once approached by movie director, Frank Fiifi Gharbin, and the actress showed nothing but gross disrespect. He claims the actress turned down offer citing her reason as low quality of stories by these Kumawood directors.
“If we’re talking about movies holding the Ghanaian movie industry down, they’re Kumawood movies. Even if you’re approached by a director and the story is not good in your opinion, you can tell the director so that you can tweak it a little… If we’re talking about better stories in the movie industry, it all comes from the Kumawood camp…. What movie makers in Accra do are kissing and nudity…is that what you call better stories?”….he fumed and asked.
Lilwin went on to state that top personalities like Van Vicker, Jackie Appiah and Yvonne Nelson all passed through Kumawood before attaining their current status.
In shocking twist of things as emotions flared, he went further to say that even if Martha Ankomah offers to work with Kumawood directors for free, no one will be interested because nobody needs her.
“Van Vicker, Jackie Appiah, Prince David, Rosslyn Ngisah and Yvonne Nelson have been casted in Kumawood; so who are you to say Kumawood don’t churn out better movies?… No one in Kumawood even needs you. Even if offer your services for free, no one will cast you in a movie,” he said.
Kumawood as a name covers movie makers based in Kumasi.
Martha Ankomah is yet to speak on the issue whether it’s true or not.
