Ghanaian actor Kwaku Manu has called on Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the newly appointed Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, to help revamp the country’s struggling movie industry. In an interview with Dj Slim on Hitz FM, Manu highlighted the challenges facing the industry, including the lack of infrastructure and financial support.
Manu who is also an entrepreneur emphasized the need for a film village, which would provide a dedicated space for filmmakers to produce their work. He also pointed out that the absence of movie producers has forced actors to take on production roles, further straining the industry.
“Getting houses to shoot movies is hard for our movie industry so getting something like a film village will help. Again, there are no movie producers now so actors are now producing their movies. She should help revamp the industry so that it’ll be noted it happened during her tenure,” Kweku Manu stated
Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, who has been named Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served as Deputy Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts from 2013 to 2017. With her extensive background in the creative arts industry, Gomashie is well-positioned to address the challenges facing Ghana’s movie industry.
