Ghanaian comedian Lekzy De Comic recently opened up about the anxieties he faced while launching his “The New False” persona.
In an interview with DJ Slim on Hitz FM, he shared that the initial publicity surrounding his new identity was met with a wave of apprehension, particularly due to the political climate in late 2024.
The “New Force,” a political movement led by Nana Kwame Bediako, was a major topic of discussion, and Lekzy feared that his campaign might be misconstrued or even politicized.
Lekzy recounted how he felt anxious when the billboards for ‘The New False’ went up, and for four days, there was little to no buzz about it. He questioned whether he had wasted his money on the campaign. However, things took a turn when Ghanaian Actor and media personality George Quaye made a post about it, sparking curiosity and generating public interest.

The face behind the ‘The New False’ billboards was unveiled on August 22, 2024
As the news started picking up, Lekzy’s team began sending him messages, and he realized that people were talking about ‘The New False’ identity without being prompted. Mainstream media outlets, including Multimedia, covered the story, and political shows even discussed it.
Lekzy admitted that he got scared when some people attributed the campaign to Chairman Wontumi, claiming that he was the one funding it. This development took the comedian by surprise, and he felt that things were getting out of hand.
When asked how easy or dangerous it was tapping into the New Force, he stated;
“When the billboards came up, for like four days, I realised people were not talking about it so I was like, ‘have I wasted my money or what?’
“Then I saw George Quaye makes a post about it like, ‘what’s going on?’…and it started picking up.
“My team were scouting online so they started sending me messages. Then I understand there are people who will not randomly post things about me but they were just doing it for free.
“I saw Multimedia doing a whole story on it, mainstream political shows were discussing it.
“What freaked me out at some point and I got scared was when they were attributing it to Chairman Wontumi – they said he was the one paying…; then I said ‘no, this thing is getting extreme.'”
Despite his initial fears, Lekzy De Comic’s ‘The New False’ identity has become a successful and talked-about campaign. The comedian’s willingness to take risks and push boundaries has paid off, and he has once again proven himself to be a creative and innovative force in the Ghanaian entertainment industry.
