Philibert Fummey Amenorpe, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, has taken legal action in a bid to annul the results of the recently held parliamentary elections. Fummey, who contested the seat against Frank Annoh-Dompreh of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has filed an injunction to halt the ongoing collation of votes, seeking a fresh election in the constituency.
According to a report by GhanaWeb, this move comes after the provisional results showed Fummey trailing Annoh-Dompreh by a narrow margin. While the NPP candidate received 34,428 votes (52.47%), Fummey secured 31,186 votes (47.53%). Fummey’s challenge focuses on allegations surrounding the election process, which he claims were marred by irregularities that could have impacted the final results.
