Frontline doctors within Nigeria’s public hospitals have concluded a three-week strike aimed at advocating for improved wages, as announced by the doctors’ union.
The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) revealed that the decision to halt the strike was reached subsequent to a highly productive discussion with lawmakers. The meeting, spearheaded by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, took place in the nation’s capital, Abuja.

Addressing the matter, the NARD President stated, “Based on our interaction with the Senate President and the tangible steps he demonstrated during our encounter today, we hold a strong belief that a positive outcome is on the horizon.”
This strike, initiated by doctors, gained significance as the first within the public sector to occur in the wake of a substantial surge in fuel prices, resulting in over a tripling of rates, coupled with escalated transportation costs.
