The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has denied allegations by Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, about the party’s attempts to form an alliance with him in Parliament.
In a statement, Justin Kodua Frimpong clarified, “The NPP has not met with A Plus, nor has it authorized anyone to convey any message to him on its behalf.”
This response follows a Facebook post by A-Plus, the Member of Parliament-elect for Gomoa Central, where he alleged that the NPP, led by Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, had approached him with a proposal for collaboration. A Plus claimed the offer included an agreement that the NPP would refrain from contesting the Gomoa Central parliamentary seat in the 2028 elections.
A Plus, who won the Gomoa Central seat as an independent candidate in the 2024 parliamentary elections, defeated the candidates from the two major political parties in Ghana. His independent victory places him as a pivotal figure in Ghana’s new Parliament, where the NDC holds a commanding majority of 183 seats out of 276. The NPP has 88 seats, with four independent MPs also elected.
The NPP’s rebuttal underscores its stance on maintaining clear communication amid the evolving political dynamics in Parliament.
