Ghanaian rapper and singer, King Paluta, has boldly thrown a word of caution to the authorities who are to see illegal substances don’t find their way into the country to be very effective with their roles because ones these illegal substances enter the country, the citizens will go for it.
Many a time and oft, we’ve been hearing songs that seem to shed lights on drugs and how they somehow make one push through a lot of things.
It’s only worth for one to think about it’s implications on all faces since its usage is illegal in Ghana.
In an interview with Ato Kwamina Otoo D’gem on Takoradi based Connect FM, the “Yahitte” hitmaker, and 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards’ New Artiste Of The Year nominee boldly stated he’s not worried putting words about marijuana/weed in his songs.
He also stated that there are people who are cultivating marijuana/weed in Ghana even though it’s illegal.
“I don’t bother putting out lyrics that talks about drugs (marijuana/weed) because I’m not the one who brought them into the country. And when they get into the country, we’ll consume them; we won’t let I go waste.
“There are customs and other authorities checking these things but they still find their way into the country. Ask yourself how that happens.
There are even people who cultivate marijuana in this country and nothing is done,” – he said.
Paluta, however, stated that he’s not in support of drug abuse but the authorities should be up to task.
“However, I’m in no way in support of abuse of drugs or to encourage anyone to do drugs. But those in positions should stop it from entering the country because ones it enters, it’ll be consumed,” – Paluta stated.
King Paluta also encouraged the government to legalize the cultivation and the use of marijuana because it has a huge business side to tap in.
“I believe the authorities should legalize the use of marijuana/weed in the country because it has a business side to it,” – he said.
