Professor Joshua Alabi, Campaign Manager for President-Elect John Dramani Mahama, has raised concerns about the validity of votes from the Ashanti Region in the recent elections. Speaking during an interview on TV3’s Hot Issues, Professor Alabi claimed that the low voter turnout in the region could be attributed to the heightened vigilance of their campaign team.
“The votes derived from the Ashanti Region are not real votes. The low turnout could be a result of our vigilance,” he stated.
The Ashanti Region, traditionally recognized as a stronghold of the opposition party, has historically recorded high voter turnout in previous elections. Professor Joshua Alabi explained that their team maintained heightened vigilance in the region due to certain occurrences. He further argued that it is implausible for the Ashanti Region alone to report a 98% voter turnout when the national average was around 68%, suggesting that fundamental issues may have been overlooked.
