Danny Jordaan, the President of the South African Football Association (SAFA), has been arrested on allegations of misusing R1.3 million (approximately $73,000 or £57,000) of the association’s funds. The arrest is part of a probe into financial irregularities that allegedly took place between 2014 and 2018.
According to reports, the investigation centers around unauthorized spending and possible misappropriation of funds intended for SAFA’s developmental projects. The funds in question were allegedly used inappropriately, sparking concerns among stakeholders and intensifying scrutiny of SAFA’s financial management.
Law enforcement authorities have confirmed Jordaan’s arrest and stated that they are working with forensic auditors to review financial documents from the association. The investigation aims to uncover the full extent of the financial misconduct and identify any additional parties involved in the alleged scheme.
