The Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Sammy Awuku, has officially announced his resignation, effective January 13, 2025.
In a letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Awuku attributed his decision to his election as the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North.
Awuku’s resignation concludes his tenure at the NLA, a position he has held since August 2021. Reflecting on this new phase, Mr. Awuku expressed his commitment to prioritizing his parliamentary responsibilities and serving his constituents effectively.
“In the light of this new responsibility, I wish to focus my efforts on serving as a Member of Parliament,” he noted in his letter.
Sammy Awuku also requested the President to expedite the appointment of a successor at the NLA to facilitate a smooth transition. Mr. Awuku emphasized the importance of ensuring continuity in leadership to maintain the operational efficiency of the authority.
