Sammy Gyamfi, the Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been appointed as the acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) by President John Dramani Mahama. He has also been tasked with establishing the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), a key promise in the NDC’s 2024 manifesto.
In his new role, Mr. Gyamfi will oversee the setup of the GoldBod under the guidance of the Minister of Finance. The board is expected to focus on the sustainable management and marketing of Ghana’s gold resources, formalizing the small-scale gold mining sector, and providing mining support services to benefit Ghanaians.
“The GoldBod is one of the top priorities of the Mahama administration aimed at economic revitalization,” a statement issued by acting Presidential Spokesperson Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Thursday night indicated.
Sammy Gyamfi is a lawyer and Economic Policy Analyst with a BSc in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Law from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He also holds a Barrister at Law certificate from the Ghana School of Law and an MA in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana.
An alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School, he holds Executive Certificates in Emerging Leaders and Strategic Leadership Programmes. He previously worked with Exton Cubic Group Limited, a prominent mining company in Ghana, and is currently serving as the National Communications Officer of the NDC.
