Ghanaian dancehall artist Shatta Wale paid homage to Jamaican musician Vybz Kartel at the Freedom Street Concert in Jamaica on December 31, 2024, declaring him “an angel” in the eyes of many Africans.
During an emotional moment, Wale knelt in gratitude, expressing his long-held desire to share the stage with Vybz Kartel. “Thank you so much. This is my first time performing in Jamaica. I’ve always dreamed of performing with you,” he shared. “God bless you, Jamaica, I love you.”

Wale claims that Vybz Kartel receives an almost unfathomable amount of love and respect that he finds on the streets of Africa.
He also conveyed his joy and appreciation for having the renowned artist on stage with him. “To help this man, I’m traveling from Africa. An angel in Africa, this man is. “I adore you so much, Daddy,” Shatta Wale said to the audience, “Vybz in flesh and soul.”
The Ghanaian artist also extended a message of solidarity from Africa: “Before I go, I want to let you know that we Africans embrace and cherish Jamaican music. Know that Ghana is a strong supporter of Jamaican music everywhere.”
Vybz Kartel responded by acknowledging the global admiration for Jamaican culture and crowned Shatta Wale as the “dancehall king of Africa.”
