The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, insists the vetting chaos probe will continue despite lifting the suspension of four MPs. Earlier, he had suspended Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli, and Jerry Ahmed Shaib.
Their suspension followed disruptions during the vetting of ministerial nominees, prompting immediate disciplinary action. However, after a bipartisan appeal, the Speaker reconsidered.
Even though their suspension was lifted, Bagbin stressed that the investigation remains active. “The committee will proceed. The report will come to the House. Members will review it and decide accordingly,” he stated. He also emphasized Parliament’s commitment to self-regulation. “Handling this internally is better than external interference. The special committee must work diligently and present only facts,” he added.
Meanwhile, the committee, led by Ho West MP Emmanuel Bedzrah, must identify those responsible and recommend proper sanctions. Bagbin urged the team to avoid public speculation. “Not everything in this chamber is known outside. One misinterpreted word can mislead the entire nation,” he warned.
Now that the suspension is lifted, the affected MPs will resume their duties. However, they and other lawmakers may testify as the probe continues. Eventually, the findings will guide future disciplinary actions and strengthen parliamentary order.
