The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has voiced disappointment over the GH¢25 million cedis recently disbursed by the government to offset part of the GH¢118 million debt owed to the Council.
According to WAEC, the amount is inadequate to facilitate the release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, which remain delayed due to the government’s indebtedness.
The delayed results are causing anxiety among candidates, especially as the 2025 tertiary admissions process is set to commence next year. WAEC has urged the government to expedite the outstanding balance payment to avoid further disruptions to the academic calendar.
